Defends Against

  • Quality Adhesive

You need an adhesive that is forgiving but strong. You need to be able to stretch the film and have it hold when tacked and not leave glue marks. We have perfectly weighted "The Standard" PPF adhesive to deliver an easy installation and long term bond that prevents lifting and peeling.

  • Quality TPU

All paint protection film is constructed with polyurethane film (TPU). All TPU has the ability to heal. Some can self-heal better than others without the need for outside heat but this is primarily attributed to the top coat. TPU needs to be optically clear with no orange peel and have the ability to stretch without distortion. "The Standard" PPF is an 8MIL PPF constructed with the finest TPU available on the market.

  • Quality Top Coat

The top coat is what protects the film from the elements and allows for a high gloss appearance. Without a quality top coat the film will prematurely age and turn yellow due to contamination from elements and UV exposure. "The Standard" PPF uses a proprietary top coat that has been proven in the harshest conditions in the world.

Installation Fluids

Slip - Johnson & Johnson: We recommend finding J&J without glycerine, which can be seen in the ingredient list on the bottle. You can safely adjust your amount of slipperiness to your liking and depending on the substrate you are wrapping. Always use distilled water to ensure the cleanest install.

Flush,Tack - DI Water: We recommend distilled water as your flush and tack solution. To enhance the effectiveness you can heat the water which will flush the soap from the adhesive while also softening the film. One of our favorite and most economic methods is to use a Sous Vide to heat water in a Rubbermade container and put your bottles in there.

Isopropyl Alcohol: Alcohol can be used in the prep stage, but not during installation as part of a mounting solution. Alcohol softens and “loosens” the molecules of the adhesive. While alcohol will increase the tack of the adhesive temporarily it can lead to premature failure in the future. Avoid installation chemicals/gels that contain alcohol.

Maintaining and Cleaning

  • We recommend regular hand washes at least twice a month using a ph neutral soap. There is no need to put a wax on PPF, but coatings and sealants can be used once the hydrophobic effects of the film have diminished.
  • Avoid automatic car washes. This will void the warranty of your PPF.
  • Be careful with using high pressure near the edges of the PPF.
